Bioenergetic Medicine

Bioenergetic Medicine: The Current Revolution in Health Care

In the final decade of the 20th century, we witnessed a revolution in medicine and health care. Our focus on prescription drugs and surgery as the primary means of treatment is expanding to include systems such as acupuncture, nutrition, herbals, whole food supplements, Chiropractic and homeopathic medicine. In many cases, modern medicine is unable to detect disease early enough for effective treatment. X-rays, laboratory tests, and even the new, highly sophisticated imaging techniques do not provide enough information to allow for effective, early diagnoses of diseases, too much radiation from all these tests could actually cause some types of cancer. When we begin to realize that illness often begins with subtle imbalances in the human energy field, completely undetectable through conventional medical tests,( it is usually a full blown disease by the time it shows up in the blood), we can understand why prescription medication and surgical procedures (often life saving in the gravely ill or injured person) need to be complemented with "bioenergetic" methods for comprehensive patient care. Whereas surgery is aimed at the level of structural anatomy, and pharmaceuticals at the level of cellular biochemistry, bioenergetic methods work with the electromagnetic component of the body. All substances, whether living or non-living, emit electromagnetic frequencies based on the amount and rotational speed of their atoms. Every specific tissue and organ in the human body has its own individual electromagnetic frequency. Now, through methods developed in Germany which work with this electromagnetic component of the body, we can evaluate and treat disease conditions before cellular damage has taken place. Once enough cellular change has taken place, making a disease visible through traditional testing procedures, it may be difficult to reverse the condition. Changes in the body's electromagnetic field occur long before most conventional tests reveal a problem, making bioenergetic methods ideal for identifying illness in the early stages. Many practitioners are now using advanced bioenergetic technology such as electrodermal screening instruments to detect subtle bioelectrical energy imbalances.

How Do Electrodermal Screening Instruments Work?

Electrodermal screening instruments are a synthesis of advanced electrical and computer technology and the ancient concepts of Chinese medicine. Known as "chi" in traditional Chinese medicine, bioelectric energy is said to flow through a series of circuits called meridians which can be affected by stimulating the topical acupuncture points of the body. Although the theory of life-energy (called the vital force in European natural medicine) seems very abstract to logical Western thinking, European researchers have validated the existence of acupuncture points by electrical conductivity readings. In 1951, a researcher named Nivoyet established that acupuncture points do in fact have a slightly lower skin resistance than points elsewhere on the body's surface. Since these topical acupuncture points have a lower electrical resistance compared with other areas on the skin, their conductivity as measured by changes in skin resistance is higher. It is this particularity that is the basis of our ability to electrically read the energy field of the corresponding organs and tissues. In 1952, Dr. Walter Schmidt examined patients with a variety of known disorders including heart problems, stomach ulcers, etc. He examined the corresponding acupuncture points using electrical current and established that resistance at the relevant acupuncture point increased when the appropriate organ was malfunctioning. In contrast, this resistance remained constant when organ function was not impaired. In 1953, Dr. Reinhold Voll, a German physician, was the first to consolidate the information from previous research and develop a systematic approach for evaluating the body through skin resistance measurements. Over the last 50 years, German research has led to electrodermal screening being utilized to aid in the determination of the appropriate therapy for the patient as well as to evaluate disturbances in the body.

What Can Electrodermal Screening Help Determine?

With electrodermal screening the possibilities are limitless. Information received in this manner can suggest the status of the various organs of the body, the presence of environmental irritants, a viral or bacterial infection, food and chemical allergies, yeast infestation, heavy metals or chemicals, digestive disturbances, and even vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Any situation that involves a seemingly complicated or vague symptom picture is a great candidate for electrodermal screening. With the information provided by electrodermal screening, the practitioner can gain greater insight into the nature and location of the patient's condition as a basis for effective treatment. It is important to remember that the results obtained with electrodermal screening cannot always be confirmed through clinical methods of examination or laboratory tests. Energetic changes in the body precede changes in the cells or organs which conventional testing procedures verify. If the illness has not progressed to the point where there are cellular or structural changes, then conventional tests will usually reveal nothing. It is also important to note that the information provided by electrodermal screening can show a completely different picture than what the patient believes the problem to be. This contradiction can appear because electrodermal screening aids the practitioner in determining the root of the problem, rather than just changing symptoms. In many cases, the actual problem is an organ or area where the patient has experienced few or no complaints. By using electrodermal screening, treatment can be focuses on the actual problem as well as giving the patient relief through symptom management.

How Long Will It Take Before I See Results?

The length of time required for healing depends upon the severity of the condition, the length of time that the patient has experienced the problem, and the individual's overall health. Genetic weaknesses can also play a part. Each person's ability to heal is the result of multiple factors, and therefore, it is impossible to say with certainty the length of time needed to recover from illness. Nutritional deficiencies alone can sometimes take months to correct. In addition, many people have layers of disease, due to many years of poor nutrition, the use of suppressive therapies such as pharmaceuticals, etc. It is like peeling off the layers of an onion in many cases, when the current problem is taken care of, a different more chronic problem manifests, something that has never been resolved. Because of these layers of disease, when one problem is overcome, another layer might manifest, resulting in an aggravation of an old problem as the body attempts to heal itself.  How Does Electrodermal Screening Compare With Conventional Testing Procedures? Electrodermal screening: can detect the early stages of illness long before conventional tests reveal a disturbance, enables noninvasive reaction tests to be carried out, which can be repeated at any time, and do not subject the patience to undue stress, does not involve costly laboratory work, provides results that are immediately available. Thus, electrodermal screening is an excellent addition to conventional medicine, enabling an assessment to be made when conventional diagnoses and therapy are unable to identify the causes of and treat impaired health. Conventional clinical diagnosis is, as a rule, confined to the treatment of findings that can be established through blood tests, X-rays, and other imaging techniques. With the exception of the EKG, EEG, and electromyography, bioelectrical measurement methods are still not commonly used in conventional medicine. No easy explanation can be found for this. Electrodermal screening provides a noninvasive means to assess the degree of disorder in the patient as a whole and the simultaneous activity of various different organs. This is in contrast to the often unclear or complete lack of information provided by normal laboratory tests. In the years to come, with the rising costs of health care, we will continue to witness the blending, integration, and synthesis of complementary methods such as bioenergetics evaluation and therapy with conventional methods in order to treat illness at the earliest possible stage.
